This is probably the best incarnation of Apocalypse from any version of X-Men, hopefully they will use this as inspiration when the use him in whatever future X-men film, since Apocalypse is a useful way to move Magneto sort of towards the good guys side.

Heck they could even use him in a future Avengers film since he's always been a global scale threat villain.

In an EVA mood... [Jan. 13th, 2012|10:47 pm]
Having watched the second Evangelion movie, i have to say i'm interested to see where it is going, since the new movies seem to be an alternative take, with moments that you seem certain about suddenly taking a slightly different route.
But it also seems to me that it is connected to the original story in some sort of cycle. It was good to see Asuka make her entrance along with new character and EVA pilot Mari ( her EVA is a little different ), and a brief glimpse of Kaworu's ( the 17th Angel, Tabris ) rather stylish EVA.

An EVA AMV of Shinji and Asuka

And this has several amusing clips mixed with various audios

Captain Atom... [Dec. 7th, 2011|01:25 am]
Captain Atom is one of DC comics many under rated heroes, who was also one of my favourite comic book heroes back in the 1980's and 1990's. Originally a character from another comic company he was acquired by DC and given a brand new look and back-story to introduce him to a wider audience ( his Charlton Comics look was, well, not great ). In spite of his power ( comparable to Supermans ) he was a decent man, defined by his flawed humanity.

With the recent "Reboot" of the character, i don't really see the point other than trying to alienate the original fans of the DC incarnation like myself and those who saw him in the animated DC universe, though i guess his Charlton comic fans felt the same about the version i grew up reading.

It really wasn't necessary to mess with his powers though, and the blue flame hair looks a bit silly, but his decent everyman character seems to be intact at least, with no sign ( yet ) of mental instability, drug dependency or any other moronic ideas to give him "depth" though such cheap ideas are rarely used.

And at least this new version is not as awful as Breach ( another update version of Captain Atom intended to be more "today" with an allegedly snappier name i guess, who had one of the worst costumes and lasted under a year with 11 issues ) and DC seem determined to make this whole thing work, at least they aren't trying to make him one of the most unlikely villains again ( it was tried in 1990 then did so again in 2007, it was a rubbish idea both times but some writers are so determined ).

Anyhow here is a tribute i found to the classic version from 1987 to 2010.

A few Warhammer 40k videos, from fan made to company produced

A summing up of the Warhammer 40k universe from the Human perspective

A mock up trailer using footage from several games, several sci-fi films with an excellent choice of soundtrack music

A decent fan animation, a little slow at the start, but pretty good.

Standoff trailer for Dawn of War II

Thunder... Thunder... [Nov. 6th, 2011|12:24 am]
The recent version of the Thundercats has a lot going for it, a darker tone, and Snarf doesn't talk, The animation is nice, and the character designs are rather respectful but different with a good the voice cast.

On the other, hand Mumm-ra looks a bit like a giant winged monkey in his powered form that made me think he could feature in the Wizard of OZ, and the opening is...short...

Still it is nice that they treat the original with respect, with a homage to the original opening in this scene

Cheetara and Lion-O also seem much closer,

The classic opening song with the new series footage

The new show has a lot going for it for new and old fans.

And finally here is out-take from the original show, Youtube has several of these, you either find it funny or not.

October...was a bit dull really... [Nov. 2nd, 2011|12:31 am]
Hm Halloween was a bit dull this year, no trick or treaters, which is a shame since i find them much more preferable over kids setting off fireworks all over the place in a few days time.

WHO... [Sep. 4th, 2011|03:42 pm]
This 12 minute collection of animations is just cool. Good to see the Cybermen come across as threat comparable to the Daleks.
